WHAT IS "SPOON SPORTS"?​

Tatsuru Ichishima (1951-)

SPOON SPORTS is a brand produced by SPOON, dedicated to the development of performance parts for Honda cars.

SPOON was envisioned and created by Tatsuru Ichishima in 1988.
Years of racing on domestic and international circuits, experiences both bitter and sweet, is what motivated Ichishima to create the SPOON SPORTS brand and the products it represents.

The track and the road are where we envision our thoughts and make them reality. Beyond speed, there is more to be enjoyed. Something that elevates emotions. We want to capture that image and make it real. 

This vision “SPOON-ism” is the foundation of SPOON SPORTS and is still carried on today.

  • [New Product] S-TAI 3rd-4th-5th GEAR SET for CIVIC FL5 SPOON SPORTS now offers the S-TAI 3rd-4th-5th GEAR SET for the 11th Generation CIVIC TYPE R (FL5). This product is a must have for heavy track driving users! Track driving exposes your gears to a lot of stress. Increasing the durability of the gears directly links to the reliability of your transmission. After extensive analysis, we’ve redesigned the gears from the ground up, looking into material, its hardness and geometry for significantly improved durability. Cutting the gears during development, we analyzed surface and core hardness of the gears, studying the effective hardness layers as well as its material composition. As a result, we were able to find the optimal material balance of hardness and toughness. Further computer analysis of the gears revealed ways to increase the modular strength of the gears and its gear teeth. Overall, we were able to improve the bending fatigue strength by a factor of 30,000 and the pitching durability by 4 times. The development of the gears began from a bitter experience of blowing the transmission twice during the 24 hours endurance race at Fuji Speedway. R&D began immediately after the troubled race, utilizing the last 3 races of the season to evaluate the shifting feel and durability. The newly designed gears were race tested for over 3,500km without any issues. The following season, we were able run the 24 hours endurance race at Fuji Speedway trouble-free, allowing us to feel confident to offer this product to our customers. Proven on track, this gear set is for our valued customers that demand nothing less than true performance, durability and reliability.   • [New Product] [Timeless Products] CARBON BONNET for INTEGRA DC2(Non-Japan Spec) Spoon Sports is launching an Integra DC2 overseas market carbon fiber bonnet as a Timeless product. While we have previously offered carbon fiber bonnets for the Integra DC2, the front-end shape differs on overseas market DC2 models. Consequently, the carbon fiber hood designed for the DC2 Japanese domestic market could not be installed on DC2 overseas market. Driven by passionate requests from overseas DC2 enthusiasts, we initiated this project, and we are pleased to announce its release today. The carbon bonnet, as being lightweight and high strength, reduces understeer and delivers excellent handling characteristics essential for sporty driving, including improved steering response, braking performance, and acceleration. While we have previously offered carbon fiber bonnets for the Integra DC2, the front-end shape differs on overseas market DC2 models. Consequently, the carbon fiber hood designed for the DC2 Japanese domestic market could not be installed on DC2 overseas market. Driven by passionate requests from overseas DC2 enthusiasts, we initiated this project, and we are pleased to announce its release today. The carbon bonnet, as being lightweight and high strength, reduces understeer and delivers excellent handling characteristics essential for sporty driving, including improved steering response, braking performance, and acceleration.
